OUR MISSION:

The Dallas Police Choir seeks to promote harmony within our community through song.

OUR HISTORY:

The Dallas Police Choir began in 1983 with a group of eight police officers, having a mutual interest in music, who wanted to sing Christmas Carols.  They began performing patriotic and inspirational music at numerous City of Dallas functions as well as retirement centers, community groups, churches and various businesses throughout the community.  The choir has grown to include 29 members and has been invited to perform at many noteworthy functions over the years.

• Special Olympics, Austin, TX  1987.
• European Music Festival Wiesbaden, Germany 1988, 1992.
• National Police Officer Memorial Day, Washington, D.C. 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989 and 1995.
• State Ceremony of Police Officer Memorial Day, Austin, TX  1995, 1999, 2008, 2009 
• Performed at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Hall, 1992, 1996.
• Performed the National Anthem at Dallas Maverics and Dallas Cowboys games, and the National Figure Skating Championships
• Performed for the 60^th Anniversary of D-Day at Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Vierville Sur Mer and Ver-sur-Mer in Normandy, France 2004.
• Florence Shapiro "Govenor For A Day" Ceremony, Austin, Texas, 2005.
• Special Olympics Opening Ceremony, 2008, 2009
• Salute to First Responders Concert, September 11, 2009 
• Performed the National Anthem at theTexas Rangers Baseball Game September 18, 2009 
• Audition for America's Got Talent, January 31, 2010 and March 25, 2010.

Each year since its inception, the choir has shared the holiday spirit in the community with its annual Christmas Tour, performing at 15-20 venues in a 3-day period during the month of December.

• 2 Departmental Certificates of Merit
• Named the "Official Choir of Texas" by Acting Govenor of Texas Florence Shapiro on April 9, 2005.
• City of Dallas City Council Recognition for 25 years of Excellent Service in December, 2008.

The choir currently has 2 CD’s:  one of Christmas Carols and one of Patriotic/Inspirational songs.  They can be purchased at any choir performance or by emailing the contact person listed above.
